President's Message!

I would like to welcome you to our website and I hope that you will take the time to browse through all the tabs so that you can have a general idea as to what we are all about. Under no circumstances shall we drift away from our mission, vision and goals. We contribute locally, nationally and internationally. It is my hope that our drive to serve humanity will influence you to do the same so that together we can change the world around us with our time, talent and knowledge.   We created this great opportunity for you to give back to the community in ways that you feel makes sense. We want not only to help foster the school children in Guyana with textbooks and other school supplies, but we are working very hard to promote the rich cultural heritage of Guyana here in Canada. Many of us forget about the fact that Guyana is a very diverse country where we like to believe that we are “One People, One Nation, and One Destiny”.

Narine Dat Sookram

Founder/President

Welcome

Our mission is to help foster the children in Guyana with textbooks and other school supplies and to promote Guyana's (a land of six races) rich culture here in Canada and to offer basic help to new comers to better settle in the Region of Waterloo.

Our goal is to connect with individuals and businesses to help strengthen our mission and build a much stronger community where we can once and for all break the barrier between our differences locally and globally through our cultural programs.

Provide school supplies to the school children in other parts of the Caribbean and around the world.

History: Active Vision Charity Association was founded by Narine Dat Sookram as a continuation of a charity group he founded back in 1991 at the age of fourteen prior to him moving to Canada in 1993 in Guyana. The purpose was to strengthen the abilities of the youths to build a strong community. Being the community oriented person he is, Narine Dat Sookram still wanted to continue with his VISION to contribute to society in ways that makes sense. He immediately founded ACTIVE VISION Charity Association so that he can continue his mission to serve humanity.

Achievements: Over the years since 1993 AVCA have organized several West Indian concerts in the Region of Waterloo allowing new and young talents to showcase their artistries with the hope to bridge the gap between our differences; connect with newcomers to the Region of Waterloo and guided them through the process of getting settled in the community, from making resumes/covers letters and offering interviewing tips.  And because we don't want to forget our roots we have continuously help with the collection and distribution of textbooks and other school supplies to the schools in Guyana to help foster the school children with a better education.  So far since 1993 thousands of books have been collected and distributed to different parts of Guyana and we have received positive feedback from both teachers and students of the impact of our contributions.
